What we do

Plastering & Skimming in Canterbury

Internal plastering is the core of what we do. Whether you need a single wall re-skimmed, a tired ceiling made good, or a whole house plastered after a renovation, we use both traditional and modern techniques to leave a smooth, even finish that is ready to decorate. We work closely with our suppliers so the materials we use are up to date with current standards and thermal performance requirements.

  • Skimming over existing plaster and plasterboard
  • Ceilings, including covering Artex and textured finishes
  • Plasterboarding and dot-and-dab for new walls and extensions
  • Patch repairs after electrical, plumbing or damp work
  • Full rooms, extensions and complete property re-plastering

External Rendering in Canterbury

Our outdoor rendering service leaves external walls smooth, weather resistant and looking sharp. We offer sand and cement rendering completed to a precise, consistent finish, whether that is one garden wall, a rear extension or every elevation of the house. Rendering is a practical way to protect brickwork and give an older property a cleaner, more modern appearance.

  • Sand and cement render to new and existing walls
  • Rendering to extensions, garden walls and outbuildings
  • Repairs to cracked, blown or damaged render
  • Smooth finishes ready for masonry paint
  • No job too big or too small

Plastering Services – Your Questions Answered

Practical answers about re-skimming, repairs, rendering and what to expect on the day.

Do my walls need re-boarding or can they just be skimmed?

If the existing plaster is solid, dry and not crumbling, a re-skim is usually enough. Where plaster has blown away from the wall, is damp, or has been hacked off for rewiring or plumbing, we may recommend fixing new plasterboard or applying a backing coat first. We will assess this when we look at the job and explain your options.

Can you repair cracks and damage rather than re-plastering the whole room?

Yes. Patch repairs are a cost-effective option for localised cracks, holes from removed fittings or damage after building work. We will make good the area and blend it into the surrounding wall. If the cracks are widespread or keep returning, a full re-skim may give a better long-term result and we will tell you if that is the case.

What type of external render do you use?

We specialise in traditional sand and cement render, which is durable, cost-effective and suits most brick and block walls in the Canterbury area. It can be finished smooth and painted with masonry paint. If your project calls for a different system, let us know and we will advise.

How much mess does plastering make?

Plastering is a wet trade so some mess is unavoidable, but we cover floors and furniture, keep the work area contained and clean up when we are done. Customers regularly comment on how tidy the job was left, which is something we take pride in.

Do you take on commercial plastering as well as domestic work?

Yes. As well as houses and flats we work for landlords, letting agents, shops, offices and small commercial premises across Canterbury and Kent. Get in touch with the details of the project and we will provide a quote.
